My Voice: Explorations

what does this series explore

This series of works explores the connection between my voice and surrounding spaces, combining sound and visual media. Through this, I reflect on the complexities of communication and self-identity shaped by my speech impediment. I aim to empower experiences, ensuring my voice is heard and inviting others to understand the importance of listening.

what this collection involves

Showcasing the development of this series of work from the initial explorations to finding a more grounded approach.

'Living Room'

2024, Oil on canvas, 12 in

The painting directly represents the space and how domestic places, like a living room, evoke feelings of ease and familiarity. The round canvas acts as a lens, allowing me to depict the space from my perspective. It showcases an environment I choose to surround myself with, where I feel confident and my words are heard.

'Time in the Living Room'

2024, Oil on canvas, 6 in

In adapting 'Living Room', I sought to express the idea that a room is always in motion. I wanted to release the need for control. This notion that control means perfectionism and dictating my worth. I start to illustrate and examine how the pursuit of perfectionism and control diminishes the personal and emotional bonds with a space. This theme resonates deeply with my voice and is something I wish to confront for greater self-understanding and acceptance.

'More Than What You See'

2024, oil on canvas board, 40 x 42 cm

Exploring how paintings and storytelling create a multidimensional space involving movement, time, and connection. I use bold colours, quick strokes, and undefined areas to show that space is shaped by personal experiences and expression, not just physical form. This has helped me focus on the physical and emotional bonds with spaces, and I've discovered that a space is more than just four walls.

'Untitled'

2024, watercolour on paper, 38 x 27 cm

From modest beginnings, we've grown through unwavering dedication and a commitment to continuous improvement. Each step has reinforced our core belief in the power of collaboration and the importance of integrity. We're passionate about what we do, and we're excited to share our story with you.

'2018'

2025, Oil on canvas board, 21 x 30 cm

I experimented with a painterly style, exploring new ways to depict space and gaining insights. Instead of showing the whole room, I focus on a specific moment to highlight stories, conversations, and shared experiences. My perspective reflects  a ghostly atmosphere reflecting the absence of people and the emotional significance of memories that bring comfort and empowerment.

'L518'

2025, Oil on canvas board, 20 x 20 cm

In this piece, I explore how the painterly style offers new insights into conveying space. It breaks down structural elements of space, helping to reshape negative experiences. This helps reclaim spaces but often erases what the room originally represents rather than changing its story. It also offers insights into how audio and speech can effectively confront and interact with our environments.
