Simmondley
Oil on canvas
84 x 60 cm
I thought back to conversations where my voice truly mattered and I felt empowered. I used the angle that captures my perspective in this dialogue. I held onto personal items like the teddy bear, which really helps illustrate the warmth and freedom my voice experiences in that room. By layering these elements and embracing them, rather than blending them away, it reflects the empowerment and freedom my voice has to express itself in that space.

Broadbottom
Oil on canvas
84 x 60 cm
This painting illustrates how my voice goes beyond just quiet and intimate conversations. As you take in the view of the room, it starts to reveal the spaciousness of the dialogue while capturing it from my unique perspective. The personal touches in this scene foster a sense of calm and familiarity, inviting you into an intimate atmosphere.
Flowery Fields
Oil on canvas
80 x 60 cm
I thoughtfully framed the angles to reflect my perspective and location, authentically portraying real-life experiences. The nature of the space and our heartfelt discussion elegantly signifies the relaxed atmosphere where my voice stands out. The vibrant colours and textured paint vividly animate these uplifting and empowering memories.

Letting Go of Control
This audio explores the pressure to conform to traditional speech and how art and spaces have challenged this notion. Through storytelling and poetic rhyme, it reflects personal experiences with speech and the desire for control. This work shows how spaces can be transformed, allowing any space to be and feel empowering.

My Voice is This Room
I thought about places that have symbolised power and how they've influenced my voice. The audio reclaims the significance of these spaces by flipping the roles, allowing my voice to take centre stage. This piece serves as both a statement and a narrative, showcasing my voice as strong and empowered. It's intended to be played aloud in a room, engaging with the space and making sure my voice resonates, ensuring it is always heard.
